LAREDO, TX. - With the atmosphere that only bands can “arm”, seven high schools in Laredo obtained first and second divison ratings at the competition held Saturday.

Bleachers at Shirley Field were filled with  family and friends, supporting students from UISD and LISD.

Among the schools in LISD, Nixon High School won a first division rating and will represent Laredo in the Area competiton this year. Martin and Cigarroa High School both received second division ratings in the contest.

All four UISD schools earned a first division rating and will advance to the area competition.

“They are two different districts in this contest, the four schools of United compete in the 5-A and the three LISD in the 4-A, the highest grade is First Division and the lowest third division,” said Servando Serna, band director at Cigarroa High School.bc5264012dd329a_1178ced2bc02ec4322dd07b7de4d7af0
