The best students from LISD are recognized

For their dedication and academic excellence, eight students were recognized as the best of their generation in their respective schools as graduates from high school.

LAREDO, TX .- Rogelio González was appointed as the Valedictorian with highest grades in Cigarroa High School. Son of Rosendo and Ana Gonzalez, he attended Santo Nino Elementary School and Cigarroa Middle School.

He hopes to attend the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.

Brandon Jacob Romero, son of Israel and San Juana Romero, was the second best student of Cigarroa High School obtaining the designation as Salutatorian.

He attended Zachry Elementary and Cigarroa Middle School. Romero will attend to Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts to study political science.

Jessica Arriaga was Valedictorian of Martin High School and their proud parents are Rosa Arriaga and Victor Eguía. She attended Leyendecker Elementary and Christen Middle School and will now pursue a career in medicine at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.

Gloria Dolores Solís was Salutatorian at Martin High School and their parents are Brad and Dora Solís. Gloria attended Farias Elementary and Christen Midle School and this summer she will attend Laredo Community College and then proceed to Texas A&M International University to study veterinary medicine.

At Nixon High School, the Valedictorian was Ruby Garce, daughter of Jorge and Maria Luisa Garce, who studied at Milton Elementary and then Lamar Middle School.

She plans to study accounting at Texas Tech University.

Jessel Jay Gutierrez was Salutatorian at Nixon and is the son of Sandra Ivonne Hale and Jesse Gutierrez. He graduated from Milton Elementary and Lamar Middle School.

He plans to attend Laredo Community College then TAMIU and further obtain a medical degree from Baylor University, specializing in sports medicine.

The Valedictorian at the Early College was Jessica Ivonne Cisneros, daughter of Jose Luis and Ramona Cisneros. She wants to study government at the University of Texas at Austin.

Veronica Arias was Salutatorian at the Early College and is daughter of Victor and Veronica Arias, She plans to attend Texas A&M in College Station to study psychology.
