The national spotlight shines on Laredo Community College on Tuesday, Nov. 30, as Sirius Satellite Radio’s Freewheelin’ program for truck drivers features the LCC Professional Truck Driving Training Program.

Sandra Cortez, director of continuing education at LCC, will be interviewed by telephone at 11 a.m. on the popular satellite radio program, which is featured on the Road Dog Trucking channel on Sirius 147 and XM 171.

The show’s topic on Tuesday will be on the future of trucking.

According to the Sirius website, the radio program is broadcast from its New York City studios, where the host, Chris T., offers a light-hearted and informational view on the trucking industry “as a lifestyle and culture, as well as one of the most important jobs in the country.”

LCC is preparing to re-launch its truck driving training program in 2011 after recently receiving a major donation from Rush Truck Center – Laredo.

The four-week truck driving training program is scheduled to start January 29 at the South Campus.

For more information, call the LCC Continuing Education Department at (956) 794-4520.
