Laredoans invited to vaccinate

LAREDO, Tx.- The local Health Department urged Laredoans to get vaccinated against the flu, given the closeness of time for the development of influenza, a viral disease that kills more than 40 thousand people every year.

Dr. Hector González, and Laredo health director, stated that vaccination is the most effective way to reduce the risk of contracting the flu and suffer the complications of the disease.

He warned that the flu is especially dangerous for people at high risk, that end up in hospital emergency rooms during the cold winter months.

Although the vaccine is for everyone, it is more suitable for children from six months, for pregnant women, people over 50, for those with chronic illnesses, those living in nursing homes, hospital workers and caregivers.

Those who would like to be vaccinated can appear at the clinic on the 2600 block of Cedar from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and then from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

The fee for the vaccines are $20 for adults and free for those who have Medicare B, it will be necessary to present the card. Those under 18 pay only $4.
