Masks may not be necessary anymore, but many winter illnesses are spread through sneezing and coughing. Make sure to always cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. AFP Photo.
Breezy mornings and sunny afternoons is what November is bringing to Laredoans and different parts of the region. The seasonal changes in weather can have affects on our bodies due to our extended time indoors.

Sore throats, headaches, fevers and common colds are here to stay, at least for the following months. Therefore we need to keep ourselves up-to-date with some tips to prevent any diseases or viruses that can put our health at risk.

Every school year brings its own problems and challenges. It seems that for both districts the first two weeks of class have been a little bit chaotic. Dress code or uniforms, attendance, schedule change and many more issues have been the talk among students, teachers, and parents.

If you visited any campus in any of these two weeks, you were able to find long lines of students who needed something to be fixed in their schedule. Not only counting with the long lines of frustration, the state decided to rename courses and their requirements making each counselor double check if each student will have their credits at the end of the year.

However, one thing that will never change is the attitude of the new student at school. The new elementary, middle or high school students who are always asking others where to go or what to do, without realizing that they just put an invisible mark that announces everyone they are new.

Today was the beginning of the World Cup. For many spectators is the chosen day to enjoy of the best sport in the whole world. Some other spent their saving buying a ticket that proposes to be the entertainment of their lives.

For one month, all of us will be part of the same vocabulary, and conversations will probably begin or end with soccer. It is like an unknown fever that happens every four years, and where the best athletes of the sport show their ultimate ability to be the winner.

Lately, we have heard of behavior problems in our Laredo schools. It seems that at the end of the school year, teenagers want to get their 15 minutes of spotlight and cause problems on their school grounds, making school district administrators look for responsible persons and avoid the bigger problem in front of them.

In all this chaos, I ask myself, what is the role of parents in this? Shouldn’t they be the ones responsible?

Everyone is buzzing around about the run-off voting elections. For some people, the idea of going to vote again is exhausting. However, if we want to see change in Laredo, we need to be out there and vote.

Voting is one of those rights that no one forces you to do it. It is a right that is unquestionable and that you can use free of convictions or ideas. It is your own choice and whomever you pick is your best choice.

Here are some tips you should use when you vote:

Hello everyone,

Let me begin by welcoming all our new and future readers. After reviewing a few of the recent comments I would like to clear up a few things about the site.

Our site is still a work in progress and although we try to bring the latest breaking news from our local frontier, and around the global, we are still working out a few bugs.
