Laredo, TX. – The seizure occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2012 at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge (Bridge Two) after CBP officers referred a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 33-year-old Mexican citizen from Fort Worth, Texas for secondary inspection.

At secondary, CBP officers conducted an intensive examination of all the baggage and belongings that the woman had in the vehicle and discovered alleged liquid methamphetamine weighing 89 pounds, within 44 bottles of various beverages.

The liquid methamphetamine has an approximate street value of $1.3 million.

CBP officers seized the alleged liquid methamphetamine, the Chevy Suburban, and arrested the female driver. The woman was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

“CBP officers continue to uphold CBP’s core value of vigilance as part of their duties. This interception of narcotics disguised as beverages is a testament to that,” said Sidney K. Aki, Port Director, Laredo Port of Entry.

“The bold ingenuity that would-be smugglers resort to, as seen in this case, only serves to confirm why our CBP officers’ vigilance is so critical.”
