LCC exhibit to highlight talented art students

Laredo, TX.- About 70 art pieces from students of the LCC Visual Arts Department will be on display during Laredo Community College’s annual Fall Student Art Show.
Students, faculty, staff and local art lovers are invited to attend an opening reception ceremony for the exhibit on Thursday, Sep. 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Visual Arts Gallery located inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center at the Fort McIntosh Campus.
Admission is free and open to the public.
“The exhibit will showcase the skills that our students have developed over the semester and will spotlight some of the best work as chosen by the instructors,” said LCC art instructor Gary Brown. “These are all works done by our students as assignments for their art classes.”
“Most of the art featured in the show was created later on in the semester after students had sharpened their artistic abilities,” Brown added.
During the exhibit, various art forms will be on display, including drawings, prints, art metals, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography and digital art. The show will display selected artworks from all studio classes from the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.
The art exhibit will be on display until Thursday, Oct. 17. Viewing hours are from Monday through Thursday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
