Read Across America tour to visit schools in Laredo

LAREDO, TX. – Laredo’s two school superintendents welcomed the National Education Association and Renaissance Dental Read Across America tour to Laredo.

Laredo ISD Superintendent Dr. A. Marcus Nelson, United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos, Texas State Teachers Association President Rita Haecker and Vice President Noel Candelaria, Laredo United TSTA/NEA President Rene De La Viña, TSTA Region 1C President Hilario Cavazos, NEA national leaders and representatives of Renaissance Dental…. plus the Cat in the Hat will be present for this tour.

The education leaders visited schools in Laredo ISD and United ISD to get children excited about reading and brushing their teeth.  Reading is the foundation of a good education, and so is good oral health. Across the country, students miss 51 million hours of school each year because of oral health problems. Participants will read to students and give away books, toothbrushes and other items to children in need. The schools will receive library grants.

The leaders visited Milton Elementary and Muller Elementary on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
